Cotswolds Wedding Videographer: My Favourite Venues to Film At

f you're looking for a Cotswolds wedding videographer, there's a good chance you've already fallen in love with the area.

And honestly, I completely understand why.

I probably film around half of my weddings in the Cotswolds, and every time I drive down from Leicestershire it reminds me why couples choose it for their wedding day. Honey coloured Cotswold stone, beautiful countryside views and some of the best wedding venues in the UK.

The whole place just feels like the perfect setting for an English summer wedding.

Why I Love Filming Weddings in the Cotswolds

There’s something about the Cotswolds that just works so well for wedding films.

The countryside is stunning, the venues are full of character and the whole area has that relaxed, countryside feel that makes wedding days flow naturally.

One of my favourite parts is the drive there. I usually stop at the same place for a coffee and banana bread before heading to the venue.

Once you arrive, you’re surrounded by beautiful stone barns, rolling hills and incredible food, which is why so many couples choose this part of the UK for their wedding.

And if you're lucky, the sunsets in the Cotswolds can be absolutely unreal.

Some of My Favourite Cotswolds Wedding Venues

The Cotswolds is packed with amazing wedding venues, from rustic barns to historic estates. These are a few places I’ve filmed weddings that always stand out.

LAPSTONE BARN

Lapstone Barn is a brilliant venue for wedding films because there are so many different spaces that can be used throughout the day.

Ceremonies, drinks receptions, speeches and the evening party can all happen in slightly different areas, which keeps the film visually interesting.

One of my favourite parts is the courtyard drinks reception. The lighting is usually really nice, everyone stays close together after the ceremony and the atmosphere feels relaxed and natural.

The team there are also fantastic. They’re always incredibly friendly and helpful which makes the whole day run smoothly.

OLD GORE BARN

Old Gore Barn is honestly one of my favourite wedding venues anywhere.

Like all Cripps venues, the food is incredible and that always adds to the atmosphere of the day.

In the evening the huge open fire creates such a great setting once the party gets going, and later when the disco ball comes out the dance floor always delivers some amazing high energy moments.

Outside the barn the driveway and surrounding countryside are perfect for sunset portraits. I often take couples out for a few minutes during golden hour so they can enjoy some quiet time together while we capture some beautiful footage.

SUDELEY CASTLE

For something a little more grand, Sudeley Castle is an incredible place to film a wedding.

I filmed a wedding here last year with an American bride and an English groom and it honestly felt like a fairytale setting.

Drinks and canapés were served in the castle gardens followed by dinner in a glass marquee in the grounds.

The scale of the venue and the historic architecture makes everything feel really special, and the dance floor at that wedding was one of the wildest Jewish wedding parties I’ve filmed.

My Style as a Cotswolds Wedding Videographer

My films are high energy with plenty of emotion mixed in.

Above everything else they’re people focused. I want couples to feel the atmosphere of their wedding day when they watch their film back.

For most of the day I film in a documentary style, staying in the background and capturing moments naturally as they happen.

But when the energy ramps up, like the room entrance or the dance floor, I’m right in the middle of it capturing the action.

Couples often tell me they didn’t even realise I was there during certain moments, and then they’re amazed by the footage that ends up in their film.

I regularly get messages months or even years later from couples saying they’ve watched their film again on their anniversary and it brought all the emotions flooding back.

Tips for Planning a Wedding in the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is an amazing place to get married. A few small decisions can really help make the most of it.

MEET FRIENDS THE NIGHT BEFORE

The country pub scene in the Cotswolds is amazing.

Meeting family and friends the evening before the wedding for good food and drinks makes the whole weekend feel more relaxed and gives everyone time to catch up before the big day.

CHOOSE A VENUE WITH OUTDOOR SPACE

Venues with gardens, courtyards or countryside views always add something special to wedding films.

The Cotswolds landscape is beautiful so it’s worth making the most of it.

MAKE THE DAY PERSONAL

The best weddings always feel like a reflection of the couple.

Whether it’s the ceremony, music, food or speeches, the best films always come from weddings where couples do things their own way.

A few personal cotswolds favourites

One of my favourite villages in the Cotswolds is Bibury.

It’s one of the most beautiful little villages in the area and there are some brilliant pubs and cafés nearby like The New Inn and The Twig.

It’s also really close to venues like Cripps Barn and Old Gore Barn, so it’s a great place for couples and guests to stay.

Another personal favourite food stop of mine in the area is The Stump, which is always worth visiting.

My favourite time of year to film weddings in the Cotswolds is definitely the summer months, when the evenings are long and the sunsets over the countryside are incredible.
